At R&W Scott Ltd, our journey began in 1873 when two enterprising brothers, Robert and William Scott, started a humble strawberry harvesting business at Mashockmill Orchard. This legacy of passion and commitment to quality laid the foundations for who we are today. We proudly embrace our rich heritage while focusing on innovation and customer satisfaction. As a leading supplier of bakery ingredients, we remain focused on the future and continually evolving our product offerings to meet the needs of our customers in the baking industry.

From our early days to our current role as a trusted supplier in the baking industry, we have faced challenges, embraced opportunities and continuously strived to innovate. After decades of family leadership, R&W Scott was sold to Hero, marking a new chapter in our history. During this time, we expanded our product range to include Chocolate Coatings, which became our most popular product by the end of the 1980s, widely used by commercial bakeries and food manufacturers.
R&W Scott was acquired by Napier Brown, who in turn became part of Real Good Food. This acquisition enhanced our production capabilities, allowing us to grow and develop further. By this time, Chocolate Coatings represented a significant portion of our offerings.
We invested significantly in our site to enhance our focus on preserves while continuing to lead in Chocolate Coatings. R&W Scott operated independently within Real Good Food during this time, strengthening our position as a trusted supplier of high-quality bakery ingredients.
A Management Buy Out (MBO) led by MD John Easton, and directors Stephen Currie and Michael Hewitt, allowed R&W Scott to prioritise our core products: Chocolate Flavour Coatings, Confectionery Fillings, Jams and Marmalades, Sauces, Spreads and Speciality Icing.
We restructured our board to build on the success of our MBO, with John Easton becoming Executive Chairman, Stephen Currie stepping up as Managing Director, and Clare McNeil joining as Commercial Director. This new leadership reflects our commitment to growth and innovation in the bakery sector.
R&W Scott proudly announced that it will operate under an Employee Ownership Trust. This transition enables our employees to participate in and influence the company's future direction, fostering a collaborative and empowering environment for everyone.
